The document proposes a reflection on the educational possibilities offered through the selfie format, taking into consideration, specifically, what can be contributed to the construction of a critical view against the subsidiary and uncritical use of images. This reflection is approached based on the findings of an ongoing research on knowledge and experiences carried out among a group of young Mexican high school students when they take a selfie. The article shows various possibilities of selfies, questioning the stigma associated with vanity or what is purely instinctual.
