The Figure of the Cyborg for a Psychosocial Research Agenda

The article addresses the impact and scope of the figure of the cyborg as a generator of new body configurations and important changes in the organization of our daily lives. To this end, it considers the origins of this figure and its current relevance. It also discusses the implications of body modifications through prosthetics, both restorative and amplifying or augmentative, and their influence on body conception. Finally, the author suggests some clues for reconceptualizing the psychosocial dimension in the research agenda on the merging forms of digital technology in the body and daily life.
