This article presents and analyzes the results of the state-of-the-art review for the research project “Epistemologies and Politics of Research from the Arts: Trajectories in Latin America.” The project’s aim was to trace the countries, categories, and approaches that have oriented reflection on the research dimension of artistic practice within university education in the plastic and visual arts across the region. The authors conclude that published work has been strongly driven by a staunch defense of the arts as a form of knowledge.
