Embodied Memory: A Research-Creation Experience on the Holodomor (1932–1933) in Bogotá

Abstract

This article presents a research-creation experience carried out in Bogotá in 2022, focused on the sensory activation of testimonial archives of the Holodomor, a famine that occurred in Ukraine between 1932 and 1933. Its objective was to explore how embodied listening can dignify victims’ testimony and generate transcultural memories. The methodology was developed through a collaborative laboratory that integrated sound transduction technologies and ritual practices. The experience fostered a form of affective and transnational listening, linking the archives with local memories of hunger and rural violence. The author concludes that the sensory activation of narratives through artistic practices transforms memory into a living, situated, and shared experience.
