Political Function of Historical Television Series on Streaming

This article addresses historical fictional series as memory artifacts that, despite their local nature and vocation, are designed to also reach global audiences and to fulfill an essential political function for new publics. Based on the analysis of historical fiction series from a qualitative narratological perspective, the authors explore the possibilities for civic formation offered by these productions when there are mediating instances that build bridges with audiences, guide them to project these learnings toward the future, and allow them to connect with their territories and with the people who live in them.
