Gender Representation in Children’s Narrative Books: A Diagnostic Methodology

This article describes the methodology of a doctoral research study on gender representation in children’s literature used in Peruvian schools. The author’s objective was to develop a diagnostic tool to assess the gender representation conveyed in the analyzed books. The tool, based on content analysis, comprises 35 variables and demonstrated medium-to-high reproducibility. Among other conclusions, the author considers that the chosen methodology, due to its rigor, is a useful instrument for diagnosing gender representation in children’s narrative books.
